Drupal

Rootcandy screenshotOne of the biggest drawbacks with Drupal is the admin section, at least that's what most my clients says. It's hard to navigate, it looks just like the rest of the site, and don't have the "you're in the admin section" feel to it.
This has changed with the the RootCandy theme for Drupal 6.x

Just upgraded to Drupal 6.8. It's just amazing how easy and fun it is to upgrade Drupal, despite the complexity of the software. Great job. =)

Finaly! I got my site up and running with the totally wicked cool Drupal 6. A long awaited upgrade, atleast I feel that way, since Drupal 6 has so many awesome new features (not to mentioned here). A big leap from Drupal 5.2

The upgrade went smooth, with only one hickup. So what was the recipie for my success you may ask. Oh, guess what. I'm about to tell you.

Drupal is a finalist for the SourceForge 2008 Community awards in not less than 5 categories.

  • Best project
  • Best project for Enterprise
  • Best project for Educators
  • Best Tool or Utility for Developers
  • Most Likely to Change the World

Sweet!

Finally! The long awaited Drupal 6.0 beta 1 is released.

fter eight months of development, we are proud to let you know that the first beta version of the Drupal 6.x family is released. This beta includes a tremendous number of new features and new programming APIs for both users and developers. We improved Drupal's human language related features, interoperability with databases, logging solutions, sign on systems and also included an update notification module for improved security, so it becomes easier then ever to get up to date with the latest security and bug fixes.

Read the full release announcement, and download Drupal here.

jQuery 1.2 was released 3 days ago (September 10th), and in just 2 days later a patch was committed to Drupal 6.0, just in time before the first beta (which was due many days ago;).

Wow, I really don't know what hit me (yet) but I was fiddling with my server today and suddenly realized that it was under enormous pressure.

By the time I managed to get a screen shot it was all over, and things has returned to normal. Only left my swap partition almost full.
load1

You can see that the load average the last five minutes is above 7, and that's seriously high.
While we are talking about load average check out this article about the mysterious load average.

It was announced at drupal.org today, that Drupal 7 will be PHP 4 incompatible. This is a huge decision to take, since it will make it impossible for many to run Drupal 7.
But in my opinion it's about time.

Dropping support for PHP 4 in such a big project as Drupal is a great kick in the ass for the PHP community to upgrade to PHP 5.

PHP 5 is three years old now, and way to many is using PHP 4 that was released seven years ago.

I checked out the new Drupal 6.0 from CVS today, and I must say, allot has happened since the last time I tried it some weeks ago.
